The Facilities Services Utilities department serves over 24 million gross square feet (GSF) of building space on the University of Florida main campus through the production and/or distribution of various utilities. This page displays a high-level overview of campus utilities from the viewpoint of the average cost per square foot. For the purposes of this page, the buildings on campus have been categorized into four groups: Academic, Office, Research, and Other. The space is classified into one of these four groups based on the percentage of space within the building attributed to specific uses. The “Other” classification of space includes a wide variety of usage such as: housing halls, Greek houses, parking garages, food service/dining facilities, sports fields and facilities, greenhouses, barns, hospitals, museums, bus shelters and libraries.
